We usually get one bad stomach bug in our house a year. Hopefully we've said "good-bye" to it for this year! I've learned a few things over the last 4 years of having little ones with a sick tummy. Here are a few ideas that have made my life easier:
1. Throw out, throw out!

Really, how expensive is it to replace kids clothes? I learned after several rounds of rinsing, soaking, cleaning and washing, that the 5 bucks to replace it is totally worth it! Besides the general advantage of not having to deal with extra washing, i figure the less I am exposed to the yuck, the less likely I am to get the virus. Unless it's a favorite piece of clothing or pretty expensive to replace (like some shoes or coats), it goes in the trash if it gets barfed on. Same with pillows, bed linens, towels, etc.
2. Prepare for a Long Night

If it looks like it might be a long night, first layer your baby's crib or bed with lots of old towels, then put an old sheet on top. If your baby is sick during the night, just throw the old sheet out and put any towels that need to be washed in the washing machine. Have a pile of old sheets and towels handy to re-layer so you won't have to search through the linen closet in the middle of the night. -
3. Preplanned PJs

Keep a pile of pjs (older ones if possible so you don't mind tossing them) handy. Key thing... Have them zip up the front, not the kind that you have to pull over their heads. That's not fun for anyone :)
4. State the obvious. Keeps these...

On the counter, easily accessible. Also, make sure the washing machine and dryer are not backed up with clothes, making it difficult to access when needed quickly.
5. Pray for grace and strength to endure it well. -
Hope no one needs these tips!!! But here they are, just in case!
